Brave Jack leads the line

Young supporter made mascot against the Rams

Wanderers fan Jack Powell marked his remarkable recovery from illness by leading out the team against Derby County on Tuesday evening.

Back in September 2011 at the tender age of just six, Jack (pictured in the home kit) was rushed to Bolton Hospital unconscious after collapsing at home with suspected meningitis, with a head scan revealing that he had suffered a large bleed on his brain.

The youngster underwent a number of operations in the years that followed and at one point was given just a 50% chance of survival, but has thankfully gone on to make a full recovery.

Now back to full health, Jack is already playing football with Horwich RMI as well as being set to return to the club’s Friday Night Football sessions where he was a regular prior to falling ill.
