Duo attend BWCT project launch

Pair help promote Community Trust's new initiative in conjunction with the Market Place

Alex Baptiste and Hayden White visited Bolton town centre after training on Thursday to help promote the Bolton Wanderers Community Trust’s new table tennis initiative.

Held in the Market Place, Bolton, the tournament will be held on the last Thursday of every month in the town’s historic shopping centre to raise money which will be divided between the Trust itself and Marie Curie Cancer Care who are working in partnership with the Market Place itself.

The duo themselves enjoyed games with shoppers and were even given the opportunity to pit their wits against Commonwealth Games silver medallist Andrew Rushton, alongside signing autographs for those present and posing for photos.

Following the event, Baptiste spoke highly of the project and paid tribute to the club’s Community Trust and their work across the Bolton area.

“When I was younger, I used to play table tennis at youth club,” he said. “I’m not very good at it now, but initiatives like this are fantastic for the community.

“I really enjoy getting out into the town – obviously I’m not from this area originally, but it’s always nice to get out there and see the town that you’re representing.

“It’s fantastic how much the Community Trust does for the town as a whole and long may it continue.”
