The low-down on Tuesday's opponents from the capital
With Tuesday’s opponents Queens Park Rangers having inflicted Wanderers’ first home defeat of the current campaign on them back in August, the Whites will no doubt be looking to avenge that reverse when the two sides clash in midweek.
Andy Johnson’s second half strike secured all three points for Harry Redknapp’s men in the reverse fixture, but the Bolton faithful will certainly head to the capital with fond memories of their last trip to Loftus Road where Wanderers ran out handsome 4-0 winners on the opening day of the 2011/12 campaign.
A fixture which currently sees Dougie Freedman’s men holding the upper hand with 14 victories as opposed to Rangers’ ten, the Whites make the trip down south unbeaten in their last three trips to West London.
Redknapp’s side however boast a formidable home record this term, winning ten of their 13 games in front of their own supporters and losing just one against league leaders Leicester City.
The R’s have certainly been impressive in terms of their solidity on their own soil this term, with just five league goals conceded there during the current campaign.
Having slipped out of the Premier League following a two year stint there back in May, there has definitely been no sign of a relegation hangover for Rangers with the team currently residing in second place in the league standings, eight points behind the top of the table Foxes.
The acquisition of a number of experienced bodies during the summer months has been crucial to the Loftus Road outfit’s success this term, with the likes of Richard Dunne, Karl Henry and Niko Kranjcar joining the ranks.
One player in particular has proven himself to be a revelation for QPR however, with Charlie Adam’s 14 goals this season making up almost half of the team’s entire league haul so far.
Having finished as Burnley’s leading goalscorer in both years which he spent with the club, the frontman swapped Turf Moor for the capital last summer and certainly hasn’t disappointed the Rangers faithful so far.
A man which Wanderers will undoubtedly have to be on their guard to deny come kick off, Tuesday’s meeting under the Loftus Road floodlights has all the makings of a memorable clash.
