U21s: Southampton preview

A look ahead to the youngsters' clash with the Saints on Monday evening

Following on from an impressive result away at Leicester City in their last outing, Wanderers Under 21 side will be hoping for a repeat performance when they take on their Southampton counterparts on Monday evening.

With the club’s youngsters having secured a handsome 4-0 victory over the Foxes last Monday, the team will be looking to record a second consecutive league win against a Saints outfit who have won two of their past four games but suffered a 2-1 reverse at the hands of Manchester United last time out.

Having failed to score in their last two clashes of 2013 with 5-0 and 3-0 defeats at the hands of Chelsea and Burnley respectively, Wanderers bounced back with a vengeance against Leicester with Conor Wilkinson handing Bolton the lead before Zach Clough and a brace from Tom Youngs made sure of the victory.

Wilkinson in particular has been a revelation for the young guns this term, notching two hat tricks so far against Blackpool and Stoke City.

With goals undoubtedly back on the agenda for the Whites, Monday's clash looks set to be a cracker under the floodlights.

For those wishing to attend the game, it will be held at the County Ground, Thurston Road, Leyland, PR25 2LF with kick off scheduled for 7pm.

Entry will cost £3 for adults and £1 for concessions, with season ticket holders free of charge.
