Matt Mills also confirmed as club's vice captain
Bolton Wanderers are delighted to confirm Jay Spearing’s appointment as the new club captain.
The club can also announced Matt Mills as vice-captain.
“We’ve built up many leaders in our current group, and Jay and Matt are two of the players who are at the forefront of what we’re trying to do here,” Dougie Freedman told bwfc.co.uk.
“They both have a very good feeling for this club and know what is required to step up and lead from the front.”
Spearing has so far made a total of 85 appearances for Bolton, scoring two goals, having initially joined on loan from Liverpool.
“It’s a massive honour to have been named as club captain,” Spearing explained. “Having seen the great players who have previously had this honour, it is a very proud moment in my career.
“We’ve got a great group of players and staff here, and we’re now all looking forward to the new season.”
