Dougie Freedman on the signing of Liam Trotter

Manager says recent recruit has all the credentials to be a hit at Bolton

Dougie Freedman says Liam Trotter has all the ingredients to prove a success as a Bolton Wanderers player.

The midfielder will officially join Wanderers on a three-year deal when his current contract at Millwall expires this summer.

And with Trotter already well accustomed to life in North West following a recent loan spell with the club, Freedman was happy to have wrapped up a permanent deal.

“Liam fits the bill for what we’re looking to do here,” the manager said. “He’s at the right age and has the right attitude, to want to come and play for this football club.

“During his time on loan he showed that he is capable of playing in a number of positions in our midfield and for me continued to improve as the games went on.

“Because of the loan, he knows the setup and the way we like to work.

“He is someone we’ve been after for a while and it’s pleasing to have another player in through the door at this stage.”
