Craig Davies hails Emile Heskey and Eidur Gudjohnsen impact

Striker says the entire squad are able to learn from veteran duo

Craig Davies has hailed the impact of evergreen duo Eidur Gudjohnsen and Emile Heskey on the Bolton Wanderers squad.

Gudjohnsen and Heskey, aged 36 and 37 respectively, signed short-term contracts with Bolton back in December and have since gone on to play pivotal roles in the side.

Davies started alongside Gudjohnsen and Heskey in the Easter Monday win at Cardiff, and after netting his sixth and seventh goals of the season spoke glowingly of the pair’s impact on the side.

“There were some superb performances. Emile and Eidur were great and are a joy to play with,” Davies said after the game at The Cardiff City Stadium.

“Their experience is invaluable. Emile helped guide me through the whole game.

“I’ve only played with Emile a few times, but when you’re upfront with him he’s always talking to you and it makes such a big difference.

“I joke with Emile that he has been playing since the 1980s, but his experience has been crucial to us.

“Eidur has got the quality in behind and he’s always one step ahead of the rest of the players on the pitch.

“He’s always looking for that little slipped ball around the corner. Not many people can see those kinds of passes and he has played at the very top level.

“Off the pitch the two of them always conduct themselves in the best possible way. They do everything possible to stay at the top of their game, be it running or in the gym.

“Everyone is looking up to them at the training ground. We all know we can learn a lot from them.”
