U18s: Everton 2-0 Bolton

Dominant Wanderers fall to unlucky defeat

Despite a dominant performance, Bolton Wanderers Under-18s fell to a 2-0 defeat against Everton on Saturday afternoon.

Will Abbotts had the Whites’ best chance, firing narrowly wide of the post, while Enock Likoy-Elumba had a penalty shout turned down after being brought down in the area.

With the scores level at the break, Everton took the lead through a deflected strike before sealing the win with a long-range goal.

Speaking after the final whistle, Whites head coach David Lee said: “We dominated the first half and I was pleased with how we pressed the opposition, forcing them to make mistakes.

“We were unlucky not to score with a couple of chances and on another day we may have had a penalty which would change the game.

“There was nothing between the two sides in the second half. We lost to a deflection and a very good strike from distance that we could do nothing about.

“The only difference between us today is that they took their chances and we didn’t.”
