Tim Ream - Confidence high ahead of Gold Cup

Bolton Wanderers Player of the Year relishing involvement in Gold Cup for second time

Tim Ream and the United States national team begin their CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign on Tuesday evening.

As hosts and reigning champions of the competition, Jurgen Klinsmann’s side are expected to be amongst the frontrunners for the crown once again.

The Stars and Stripes kick off their tournament against Honduras, before further group games against Haiti and Panama follow.

Ream came on as a substitute and played the final 30 minutes of the United States’ 4-0 warm-up win against Guatemala last week and now can’t wait for the competition to get going.

“I’m looking forward to being involved in my second Gold Cup, after missing out in 2013,” he told bwfc.co.uk. “It’s a tough competition, with so many games in a short amount of time.

“The mood in camp is great right now. We are all very confident heading into the first game, especially after winning our friendly against Guatemala on Friday.

“Being with the national team is a huge honour, obviously, but it is a lot of hard work with all the training, meetings and team activities that are planned every day.

“I want to have a winners’ medal at the end of this Gold Cup. This tournament will take all 23 guys pulling in the same direction for the duration. I hope to get some playing time and contribute in any way possible.”

Full updates of Tim’s involvement for the USA throughout the CONCACAF Gold Cup will follow right here on bwfc.co.uk.
