Wanderers' 2015/16 local derby fixtures in detail

A detailed look at the club's local derbies throughout the upcoming 2015/16 campaign

With Wanderers having gained two new derbies this season in the form of Preston North End and Burnley, they will also contest against regular rivals Blackburn Rovers during the course of the campaign.

The dates for the club’s local derbies throughout the 2015/16 season are as follows:

Blackburn Rovers

The Whites will make the trip to Ewood Park on Saturday 29 August with kick-off scheduled for 3pm, while Gary Bowyer’s men will travel to Macron Stadium for a festive fixture on Monday 28 December.

Last season, each side picked up a victory apiece on home soil with Emile Heskey and Eidur Gudjohnsen’s strikes cancelling out Josh King’s effort in the Trotters’ win at BL6 last December, while Jordan Rhodes hit the decisive effort in injury time in the reverse clash in March.

Burnley

Suffering relegation from the Premier League after a solitary season back in the top flight, the Clarets will welcome Neil Lennon’s side to Turf Moor on Saturday 17 October, with Saturday 27 February seeing Bolton host Sean Dyche’s men for the first time since February 2014.

The last time Burnley were a second division side, they took all three points home from their visit to Macron Stadium courtesy of Sam Vokes’ strike, but Wanderers had earlier earned themselves a share of the spoils on the opening day of the 2013/14 season.

Preston North End

With Wanderers winning promotion to the Premier League with a 3-0 Play-Off Final victory over the Lilywhites the last time these two sides met in May 2001, fixtures between Bolton and their Deepdale counterparts will no doubt be tasty encounters this term.

Fresh from their own play-off success in May, Simon Grayson’s men will play host to the Trotters on the afternoon of Saturday 31 October, with Preston making the return trip down the M61 on Saturday 12 March.

Last pitting their wits against each other in league action during the 2000/01 campaign, Wanderers ran out 2-0 winners on both occasions that season.

2015/16 season tickets are still available to purchase ahead of the new campaign.
