Loan watch: Jermaine Beckford nets last-minute equaliser

Niall Maher, Sanmi Odelusi and Conor Wilkinson also return from injury as seven on-loan Whites feature for respective sides

Jermaine Beckford came off the bench to score a dramatic late equaliser against Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday as Preston North End moved into the League One automatic promotion places.

The forward joined the action at Deepdale with five minutes to go in response to the Lilywhites falling behind, after two late goals in quick-succession from Harry Forrester and Curtis Main had cancelled out Daniel Johnson’s early opener to the turn the game on its head.

However, Beckford was in the right place at the right time to volley home a last-gasp equaliser at the far post, after Paul Huntington had flicked on Scott Laird’s cross into his path.

Elsewhere in League One, Sanmi Odelusi and Conor Wilkinson both made their respective returns from injury for Coventry City and Oldham Athletic.

Odelusi started for the Sky Blues away at Barnsley, completing 64 minutes as they suffered a 1-0 defeat, while Wilkinson was a 75th minute substitute as Oldham clinched a 1-0 away victory over Port Vale.

Meanwhile, Keith Andrews was a late substitute for MK Dons, joining the action in the 84th minute, as they suffered a last-minute defeat at home to Chesterfield.

In the Championship, Niall Maher started for Blackpool as he also returned from injury.

The defender, who was booked shortly after the interval, started the match before being replaced in the 67th minute as the Tangerines lost 1-0 away at Birmingham City.

Jay Spearing was also in action for Blackburn Rovers, completing the full 90 minutes as they won 2-1 away at Sheffield Wednesday.

Meanwhile in Israel, Medo Kamara completed the full 90 minutes for Maccabi Haifa as they came from behind to win 2-1 at home to Maccabi Netanya.
