Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving information

Details confimed ahead of the club's annual remembrance service held at Macron Stadium

Bolton Wanderers' annual Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving will take place at Macron Stadium on Tuesday 26 May, starting pitch side at 6.30pm.

From here, the event will then continue in the Platinum Suite where, during the service, names of loved ones that have been inscribed in the Memorial Book or engraved on a memorial stone during the past twelve months will be read out.

All the names of family and friends to be remembered from previous years will be displayed on the big screen while within the service, people will be invited to come forward and light candles in memory of those who are no longer with us.

This year's event will have a poignant focus upon remembering ‘Wanderers at War’ and the retelling of the story of Wanderers’ captain Harry Goslin who, in front of a 23,000 strong crowd at Burden Park, gave a rousing speech before leading his entire team to the Bolton Territorial Army drill hall where they all signed up.

Having served in the Second World War, all returned apart from Harry himself who was killed in action.

This year, his Bolton Artillery Regiment is 300 years old and to mark this, they are planning to follow back in his footsteps in the summer and return to Harry’s grave.

Representatives of the Artillery will be present at the service and the music will be provided by the Bolton Artillery Band.

Light refreshments will be served following the service, with the event open to all while no ticket will be required for entry.
