Community Trust backing #TeamKelly in legends match

Bolton Wanderers Head of Community Trust Phil Mason previews next month's charity match at Macron Stadium

Bolton Wanderers Head of Community Trust Phil Mason is backing #TeamKelly ahead of the upcoming legends match at Macron Stadium.

The game on May 14 will see a Tony Kelly XI come up against a John McGinlay XI, with all monies raised being donated to the Bolton Wanderers Community Trust and Bolton Wanderers Supporters’ Trust.

And ahead of the match Mason says a great deal of excitement and light-hearted competitiveness between Kelly, a Community Trust ambassador, and McGinlay is already building.

“There’s a great deal excitement around,” he told bwfc.co.uk. “Tony and John are constantly talking about it and what they are going to be doing come the match itself.

“To see both Tony and John out on the pitch at Macron Stadium should be a fantastic experience. We’re hoping for a good crowd, because this is an opportunity for the fans to see some of their favourite players back out on the pitch.

“We’re of course supporting team Tony Kelly. He’s been a fantastic ambassador for both the Community Trust and the football club. He continues to go out to schools and community centres and really inspires people.

“Being head of the Community Trust this is an event we’re really excited about.

“The money raised from the game will help fund our projects, of which we currently have 33. We have staff on the frontline engaging with people and narrowing the gap of disadvantage in areas such as health, disability and education. We’re very much at the heart of the community.

“The Supporters’ Trust has developed and generated some real momentum and we’re delighted to be working with them.

“The Community Trust is engaging with the community, the Supporters’ Trust engaging with the supporters - bring those two entities together and that’s what makes a football club."

Tickets for the legends match are priced at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions and can be purchased online on the club’s eTicketing site, over the phone on 0844 8712932 and in person at Bolton Central.
