Sammy Ameobi hoping for another Emirates FA Cup home tie

Winger hoping for long cup run after scoring in Wanderers' victory over Sheffield United

Sammy Ameobi is eyeing up a home tie in the third round of the Emirates FA Cup after Wanderers defeated Sheffield United 3-2 at the Macron Stadium.

The winger took his tally for the season to three as he accompanied Gary Madine and Josh Vela on the scoresheet to help the Whites see off the Blades.

Scoring his first FA Cup with a stunning 25-yard first-time effort within seconds of the restart, the Newcastle loanee is now targeting further cup progress with Bolton.

"I’d like a home fixture for the fans," he told bwfc.co.uk after the final whistle. "I had a bit of a tough start, but it was good to get the goal and more importantly get into the next round.

"Bolton have done really well in the past in the FA cup so I’d like to go on a good run with the Club in the cup.

"I think it’s a special tournament for the fans so I hope we get a home game for them.”

Ameobi has been in scintillating form this season and believes he owes a lot of the praise to his manager and team-mates.

“I’m really enjoying my football at the moment and I’m playing with confidence," he said.

"The gaffer is brilliant bringing us all together and we’re gelling very well both on and off the field.

“The team have really helped bring the best out of me. You can see it every day in training, we work so hard. We keep a good shape, we defend well and going forward we have a lot of quality.”
