U23s: Leeds United 2-3 Bolton

Jamie Proctor and James Henry both on target for David Lee's side in their final outing of 2016

Wanderers’ Under-23s ended the calendar year with victory as they came from behind to beat Leeds United at Thorp Arch on Monday afternoon.

Despite falling behind to an Eoghan Stokes effort, an experienced Bolton side hit back through Jamie Proctor who pulled David Lee’s side level in the 17th minute with a shot from the edge of the box which nestled into the top left corner of the net.

James Henry then got himself on the scoresheet, firing past the Leeds keeper into the bottom corner after collecting an accurate pass from Chris Taylor.

After the break meanwhile, the Whites extended their lead courtesy of Michael Barrow’s header from eight yards, an effort which came from a Jeff King corner kick.

The home side did set up a grandstand finish as Tom Peace pulled a goal back late on, but the Trotters kept their Leeds counterparts at bay inside the closing stages to ensure that they ended 2016 on a high and with a hard-earned victory under their belts.

Bolton: Turner, Spooner, Lonsdale, Barrow, Lavelle, Perry, King, Henry (Tanner 80’), Proctor (Newell 55’), Clayton (Earing 60’), C Taylor
