Phil Parkinson confirms first team squad will take on York City this weekend, XI team to travel to Crewe on Friday

Phil Parkinson will now will lead Bolton Wanderers’ first team during the weekend’s game at York City, with an XI team set to turn out at Crewe on the Friday evening.

The game at York City on Saturday 23 July was originally scheduled as an XI fixture, but after consideration from the manager and his backroom staff the first team squad will now make the journey to North Yorkshire.

Kick off will remain at 1.30pm at Bootham Crescent, with admission details available via the below link.

As a result of the switch, a Bolton Wanderers XI team will take to the field against Crewe Alexandra on Friday 22 July, kick 7.30pm at Alexandra Stadium.

“We’ll be looking at playing a mixture of trialists and younger players at Crewe on Friday evening,” manager Phil Parkinson told bwfc.co.uk. “We’ll likely be fielding a stronger team at York City on the Saturday.

“When we came in we knew we had a set of fixtures to work with and use as we deemed best. I’ve spoken to both Jackie McNamara at York and Steve Davis at Crewe and everyone is happy with the arrangements.

“We’ll obviously assess our levels after the game at Tranmere on Tuesday night, then we’ll be able to have a clear run in training with the first team squad through to the game on Saturday.”
