A look ahead to Wanderers’ first pre-season fixture against Atherton Collieries
Bolton Wanderers kick off their 2016/17 pre-season campaign away at Atherton Collieries on Saturday.
Kicking off at The Kensite Stadium at 3pm, manager Phil Parkinson has confirmed the majority of the travelling squad will be made up of younger players, while he will take a watching brief from the sidelines.
A selection of senior players will be in attendance at the ground ahead of flying out to Sweden on Sunday for their pre-season training camp.
Opponents Atherton finished last season in third place in the North West Counties Football League Premier Division, while they beat league champions Colne 5-1 to lift the MEN United Cup Final at Fleetwood Town’s Highbury Stadium.
