U18s: Nottingham Forest 6-3 Bolton

Youngsters suffer first league defeat of the campaign at the hands of their Forest counterparts

Wanderers' Under-18 side suffered their first defeat of the 2016/17 campaign as they went down in a nine-goal thriller with Nottingham Forest on Saturday morning.

With Bolton having started the game on the back foot, the hosts capitalised and were two goals to the good by the time the half-time whistle was blown.

Proceeding to concede a third shortly after the restart, Nicky Spooner's youngsters then proceeded to show good character to reduce the deficit with goals from Ryan White and Harry Brockbank.

When chasing an equaliser however, Forest hit the Whites on the counter to make it 4-2 and then notched twice more to seemingly put the result beyond doubt.

There was still time for Luca Navarro to add a third for the Trotters after running onto a through-ball and scoring from the edge of the box, but it was ultimately scant consolation at full time.

Bolton: Turner, Marsh, Boon, Grivosti, Broughton, Brockbank, Everest, Griffiths-Jones, Moore, Fearnley, White

Subs: Navarro, Abdo, Pearson, Connell, Preston
