Wanderers were left ruing missed opportunities as they slipped to a 3-2 defeat against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Despite creating several clear-cut opportunities the Whites left the City Ground empty handed despite another Will Buckley strike and countless pressure on the Forest goal.
Speaking to bwfc.co.uk following the final whistle, manager Phil Parkinson covered the following points...
On his side’s performance…
I don’t think it’s a point dropped, I think it’s three points dropped.
We’re getting better as a team and with the ball today I thought we were excellent. We worked hard in all aspects of the game and we got a lot more control of the ball.
That is the way we have to perform as a team and I was pleased with that. However, we have to restrict the mistakes we make against a team who was really under pressure during that second period.
The first goal we’re disappointed with. We were then excellent, we were the better team and deservedly got the goal back before half time.
It was a great move and finish by Will (Buckley) and we then started the second-half really well.
Their second goal has knocked the stuffing out of us because I thought it was a very good performance from us today and the lads, like myself, are hugely disappointed with the result.
On his side’s missed opportunities…
We’ve had two guilt edged chances to take the lead at 1-1, we had this team on the rack and I just felt a goal coming. You have to take your chances in those periods and we didn’t. They have then scored that second goal which is a really disappointing goal from our point of view and I felt we then lost our way a little bit.
On the performance of Will Buckley…
I’m pleased for Will, we’ve been easing him into first team action, he’s so fit in his ability to cover the ground from box to box and he gets in the six-yard box. He’s got two goals in his last three games so I’m very pleased for Will, he’s a player who is going to get better and better.
And finally, on next Saturday’s game against Burton Albion…
Irrespective of the result today, next weekend was always going to be a big game. We will take this on the chin and not let it affect our confidence because we have shown we have the ability. We have to regroup and get ready for an exciting period with two home games which we will make sure we’re fully ready for.
