Wanderers support Samaritan's Purse's Christmas shoebox appeal

Bolton Wanderers' Macron Stadium last month played host to over 7,000 shoeboxes filled with presents for youngsters in Romania in association with Samaritan's Purse and Operation Christmas Child.

Since 1990, more than 146 million children in over 150 countries have received shoebox gifts from Operation Christmas Child, with the club having previously housed shoeboxes in recent years.

BWFC provided the space and warm environment for local volunteers to assist with the appeal and over a four-week period during November, thousands of shoeboxes were filled with children’s gifts, which have been donated by communities from across the region, before being dispatched worldwide to underprivileged children.

The Mayor of Horwich even visited the stadium to show his support for the initiative on Tuesday 21 November.

And on Thursday 30 November, 7,269 shoeboxes in 730 cartons were loaded onto vans and left Horwich the following day to be delivered to Romania in time for Christmas.
