In Memoriam: Phyllis Robb

Burnden Park Disaster survivor passes away aged 102

Bolton Wanderers were recently saddened to learn of the passing of supporter Phyllis Robb.

Phyllis, born in Bolton on October 26, 1914, died on Thursday 19 January, aged 102.

A lifelong Wanderers fan, she survived the Burnden Park Disaster on March 9, 1946 after she was lifted up and passed to safety by her fellow supporters.

The image of her escape meanwhile has become one of the most powerful and iconic images of that fateful day.

And during the Club's 70th anniversary of the disaster last year, Phyllis was welcomed to the stadium to receive the first of 1,000 commemorative shirts that had the names of those that lost their lives woven into the fabric.

The thoughts of all at Bolton Wanderers are with her family and friends at this difficult time.
