The League Managers Association’s five-man panel, comprising LMA Chairman Howard Wilkinson, Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry, has determined that the LG Performance of the Week Award should go to Bolton Wanderers for their commendable 2-1 victory against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday 4 August 2018.
The experienced and highly distinguished panel has managed a combined total of over 6,000 competitive matches in professional football.
Bolton Wanderers manager Phil Parkinson received a celebratory bottle of champagne, courtesy of Tanners Wines, and an LG Performance of the Week trophy in a presentation to commemorate the result in his pre-Bristol City press conference.
The gaffer consequently presented the champagne to long-standing employee Joe McGlynn who is currently amidst his 50th year of working for Bolton Wanderers.
Bolton Wanderers won a stunning and deserved three points against the team who dropped out of the Premier League last season.
Magennis put his side in front with a headed goal before the hosts got back into the game on the cusp of half-time thanks to Harvey Barnes.
But a late winner from substitute Wildschut silenced The Hawthorns to get Wanderers’ Sky Bet Championship campaign up and running.
