RIP Stan Anderson

Bolton Wanderers Football Club are saddened to learn of the passing of our former manager, Stan Anderson.

Stan originally joined the club as Ian Greaves' assistant manager in November 1978 before serving as caretaker manager in January 1980.

Handed the job permanently the following month, he remained in charge until the end of the 1980/81 season.

A two-time England international, Stan played over 500 league appearances for Sunderland, Newcastle United and Middlesbrough during his playing days before enjoying managerial spells with the Teessiders, AEK Athens, Queens Park Rangers and Doncaster Rovers prior to his time at Burnden Park.

The thoughts of everybody connected with Bolton Wanderers are with his family, friends and former colleagues during this sad time.
