Preview: Blackburn Rovers vs. Bolton Wanderers

Coming off the back of Friday’s game against Aston Villa, Wanderers could be without duo David Wheater and Gary O’Neil.

Wanderers skipper went off in the first half with a leg injury and had to be replaced by Mark Beevers.

Furthermore, Gary O’Neil also had to be take off during the first period of Friday’s game, after a suffering a head injury in a collision with Neil Taylor.

Wanderers headed to Ewood Park in November 2006, to take on Mark Hughes’ Rovers side.

Nicolas Anelka played a delightful ball across to El Hadji Diouf, who headed the ball against the post.

Rovers responded through Zurab Khizanishvili, who header was cleared off the line by Wanderers midfielder Gary Speed.

Just past the hour mark, Wanderers took the lead through a powerful header by Ivan Campo that Brad Friedel was unable to stop.

Late into the game and Rovers won two penalties, which Jussi Jaaskelainen saved from both Benni McCarthy and Jason Roberts in empathic fashion.

During the January transfer window, Rovers added a permanent signing to the club.

Having joined originally on loan in summer, Ben Brereton made his move to Ewood Park permanent in January.

He has been a regular member of Tony Mowbray’s side throughout this Sky Bet Championship season, making 23 appearances in the league so far.

He has made an impression on the international scene with England Under-19s, winning the age group’s European Championships in 2017.

As well as that, Brereton won the EFL Championship Apprentice of the Year in 2016/17, following his impressive season with Nottingham Forest.
