BWFC U19 3 -0 Tranmere Rovers U19

The Young Wanderers registered their first three points of the season with a comfortable 3 -0 win against Tranmere Rovers.

The first half was a tense affair with the Young Wanderers too often giving the ball away in the final third and not making the most of their goal-scoring opportunities.

They had numerous opportunities to take the lead but the final ball or shot let them down. Bolton had to stay strong at the back as Tranmere continued to make things difficult for Bolton with their aggression, energy, and directness when they had the ball.

The second half was a lot better for Bolton who increased the tempo of their passing and played with more of a purpose and intensity.

With an hour gone, Bolton opened the scoring through a well-worked corner routine. A short corner found Max Conway, who delivered the ball to Lamine Toure and powered home his header at the back post. This goal just gave the Young Wanderers more confidence and they then started to open up the Tranmere defence more often.

On 70 minutes, Jay Fitzmartin pounced on a mistake to round the keeper and slot home. The third quickly followed when a well-worked move was finished off with Mitchell Henry glancing a header past the Tranmere keeper.

The victory was secured and came off the back of a 2-2 draw against Accrington Stanley last weekend.

Lead Coach Dave Gardiner said: “We are really pleased with the result and certain aspects of our performance but we have got to start games better."

"We are waiting for the second half of games to really get going and show our true potential.

"This group of young players has so much potential but they have got to be more motivated to start the games at an intensity and quality that they show every day in training.

"Once they get going they are a pleasure to watch and move the ball with confidence and create fantastic goal-scoring opportunities. It is only a matter of time until we start taking more chances and the goals will start flying in.
