Transfer Deadline Day summary

Wanderers completed a busy January Transfer Deadline Day having brought four new players to the club, with four players leaving the club in a mixture of permanent deals and loan moves.

Ian Evatt’s first acquisition of the day was 21 year-old Danish goalkeeper Lukas Jensen who arrived on loan until the end of the season from Premier League neighbours Burnley.

From one end of the pitch to the other, the Manager added to the frontline with the signing of Oladapo Afolayan, with the 23 year-old attacker arriving at the University of Bolton Stadium from top flight West Ham United on loan until the end of the season.

MJ Williams is a central midfield player who also has the ability to operate as a central defender and during the day, he became a Wanderer – signing an 18-month contract with the club following his departure from Sky Bet League One outfit, Blackpool.

The recruitment was completed in the evening with Evatt drafting in talented winger Marcus Maddison on loan from Charlton Athletic until the end of the season. The 27 year-old who hails from the North East spent six years with Peterborough United (2014-2020) and has an eye for a spectacular goal.

George Taft was the first departure of the day with the central defender joining fellow Sky Bet League Two side Scunthorpe United in a permanent switch following a successful loan stint, and teenage midfielder Regan Riley completed a move to Sky Bet Championship high-flyers Norwich City for an undisclosed fee.

Attacking midfielder Ali Crawford renewed his acquaintances with Keith Hill by completing a loan move to Tranmere Rovers and early the following day, Tom White returned to parent club Blackburn Rovers following the end of his loan spell at the University of Bolton Stadium.
