Sheehan Reflects On First Wanderers Training Session

Josh Sheehan is looking to build on an excellent season in South Wales as he begins a new journey with Bolton Wanderers.

The Welshman was the stand out performer for Newport County last season as the Exiles narrowly missed out on promotion.

As well as being named in League Two’s team of the year, alongside new team-mates Eoin Doyle and Ricardo Almeida Santos, the 26 year-old was called up into the Wales squad.

And after penning a deal with Ian Evatt’s men earlier in the summer, the midfielder is buzzing at the prospect of another exciting season in front of him.

Speaking to the club’s official YouTube channel, he said: “I’m full of confidence because it was an enjoyable season for me at Newport.

“It’s good to be back. It’s good for me, coming into a new team, to settle and mix with the boys, get to know what they are like.

“It’s a tough time, pre-season, but I am looking forward to it and can’t wait for the games to start.

“Getting called up for Wales and playing for them twice was the pinnacle, playing for my country. I want to keep doing that and progress even more.

“I’m going in to do exactly what I did last year ,that type of play will hopefully suit this team and the team will suit me as well. I’m hoping to do what I did last year, but even better.

“From knowing a few of the boys here the ambition is not just to get up from League Two to League One, it’s to go again and show everyone where this club should be.

“The pedigree of the club is what first drew me to speak to the manager, knowing his ambitions and his style of play, it is everything I’m about so I’m looking forward to it.

“The fans, the manager, the stadium, the players – playing against them towards the back end of last season you could see the style the manager was trying to implement. I’m looking forward to joining in.”
