Date of birth
Mellis joined Bolton in January on a free transfer after his release from Mansfield Town.
He was at Sheffield United as a youngster before making a £1 million move to Chelsea and making his debut for the Blues against MSK Zilina in the UEFA Champions League back in November 2010 as a second half substitute. He was a member of the Chelsea FA Youth Cup team that reached the final in 2008, losing to Manchester City. The 29-year-old joined Southampton on loan in 2009. In the following year, he moved to Barnsley on a five-month loan deal. He moved to Barnsley permanently in 2012, and on his debut set up a goal for John Stones. He later had spells with Blackpool, Oldham, Bury and Mansfield. At Bury, he was team-mates with Kean Bryan and played under David Flitcroft.
