Lewis Buxton made his Wanderers debut on the opening day of the 2016/17 season against Sheffield United.

Completing the full 90 minutes at right-back, the 32-year-old helped the Whites to a 1-0 victory over the Blades having only made the move to Macron Stadium the day before.

Starting his career with his Portsmouth, he broke into their first team during the 2001/02 season before enjoying loan stints with Exeter City and AFC Bournemouth.

After moving to Stoke City, he signed for Sheffield Wednesday in January 2009 following a brief loan spell at Hillsborough and was a member of the Owls side that won promotion to the Championship in 2011/12.

Spending the 2015/16 season with Rotherham United, the defender made 22 appearances in all competitions as the Millers avoided relegation.

Leaving the Yorkshire-based club that summer, Buxton then signed for Wanderers on a free transfer, signing a one-year contract at Macron Stadium.
