Club celebrates success of 35 individuals who recently achieved a BTEC qualification in Sport
Bolton Wanderers recently celebrated the success of local youngsters who had completed a nationally-recognised BTEC diploma in conjunction with the football club over the course of the last year.
A total of 35 proud individuals were on hand to receive their certificates from Wanderers boss Owen Coyle, with Chairman Phil Gartside and Bolton Council Chief Executive Sean Harris also in attendance inside the stadium’s Platinum Suite.
Working with the club’s education department, lessons were delivered in a unique style that focuses on professionalism.
Classroom sessions were delivered at the Reebok Stadium, with a variety of practical sessions taking place at the club’s Lostock-based academy and Bolton Arena.
Highlights from the course included a training session at Amir Khan’s Gloves gym, games on the Reebok Stadium pitch and travelling to Sunderland to watch Wanderers’ game at the Stadium of Light.
“It has been a privilege for us to be involved with the institute,” Gartside explained. “We are really pleased for all the students and delighted by their success. We wish them all the very best for the future.”
Coyle added: “It was a great evening and gave us the chance to get together and celebrate the achievements of the students who have worked tremendously hard. They’ve shown great commitment and I would like to congratulate them all on their success.”
The lessons were led by head tutors Joel Kerr and Moses Sangobiyi.
“It has been the proudest year of my life to have been involved with these students who have taught me such a great deal,” Kerr said.
Sangobiyi added: “We have had a challenging but ultimately hugely successful year. I am incredibly proud of our students and they have shown over these 12 months that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.”
