Report: Chorley 0 Wanderers XI 1

Substitute Luke Woodland scores a late winner at Victory Park after coming off the substitutes' bench

Midfielder Luke Woodland scored the match-winning goal for Bolton Wanderers XI in Tuesday's friendly against Chorley at Victory Park.

The England Under-17 international, in his first game back since helping the Academy team secure third spot in the Milk Cup in Northern Ireland last week, headed a late winner ten minutes before the end after being introduced from the bench.

Following Adam Blakeman's weaving run down the left channel, Woodland stole in at the near post to turn in a delicate chipped cross.

Wanderers should have been at least one goal up at the break - Sanmi Odelusi headed narrowly wide when unmarked before Tom Eaves was denied his second goal of pre-season by the legs of the Chorley goalkeeper.

The result ensures John Henry's Wanderers XI team have enjoyed an unbeaten start to pre-season, having registered a 1-1 draw against Bamber Bridge and a 2-2 tie at Radcliffe Borough in their first two matches.

Wanderers XI:Lynch, Threlkeld, McQuade, Hampson (Battersby 46), Kellett (Dennis 70), Blakeman, Roberts, Odelusi, Eaves (Woodland 77), Sweet (Sampson 70), McKee
