On-loan striker in Stuart Pearce's squad to face Northern Ireland
Benik Afobe has been handed his first call-up to the England Under-21s squad for next Tuesday’s friendly against Northern Ireland.Stuart Pearce’s men have now qualified for the 2013 European Championships, and the on-loan Arsenal forward has been given the chance to impress and stake his claim ahead of next summer’s tournament in Israel.
Afobe has previously represented England at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-19 level.
The fixture against Northern Ireland takes place at Blackpool’s Bloomfield Road ground, just three days after Wanderers visit there in the npower Championship this Saturday.
