Jacob Butterfield is confident that Bolton can now hit a winning run, after the Norwich loanee played an integral part in the Whites’ 2-1 victory against Blackburn Rovers.The 22-year-old played 75 minutes in a dominant Wanderers display at Ewood Park on Wednesday night.
Goals from captain Kevin Davies and Chung-Yong Lee sealed victory, extending Dougie Freedman’s unbeaten start to six, and Butterfield believes the Whites can now take this momentum forward into Saturday’s clash with Ipswich Town.
Speaking after the Blackburn game, Butterfield said: “The fans will be buzzing - coming to Blackburn, the local derby, and putting on a performance like that and getting the win was fantastic.
“With the kind of players we have, we should be right up there. We are confident that we can put on this kind of performance and get a real good winning run and move up the league. I am sure that by the end of the year we will be right up there.
“Personally, during my time here, I hope to get more wins and get more points on the board for Bolton. I have really enjoyed my time here so far.
“I have been really impressed by the club as a whole. They are a great group of lads and I have really enjoyed playing here.
“I think we came out and dominated the game. We got a great start with the early goal. I think that in the first half we dominated the game and played some good stuff. Overall it was a really enjoyable game.
“We probably should have gone in more than just the one goal up, but we managed to get the second goal, and naturally as the game wore on they started to throw balls into the box. They got one back but we fully deserved the win.
“I think we have talented players here who like to get onto the ball and play. Sometimes it is difficult, but we are all confident in the way we play.
“We created a lot of chances and should have probably scored more goals, but it was a real enjoyable performance.”
