Chung-Yong: More To Come

Wanderers' South Korean star says he is nearly back to his best

Chung-Yong Lee says that he is edging towards full match fitness after making his 12th appearance of the season against Blackpool at the weekend.

The South Korean, who missed the entire of last season with a broken leg, believes that he will soon be back to his best, explaining that it has taken the first third of the 2012/13 season to get up to speed again.

Since Dougie Freedman was installed as the club’s new boss, Chung-Yong started both the home fixtures against Cardiff City and Leicester City.

He made a substitute cameo against Blackpool, playing half an hour in which he scored his second goal of the season.

And having now got minutes and games under his belt, he is confident he will once again reach the standards he set before his injury.

“I feel good, my body and leg feels good,” said the former FC Seoul man.

“It was a hard game again on Saturday - always it is hard when you come into a game as a substitute. I thought I did okay and I was happy to score.

“I am getting better with every game but I need more matches. Before the injury I was 100 percent, now I am about 80 percent. More games and more time, I will be back feeling full of fitness again.”

The Whites will be aiming to extend the unbeaten run to four matches on Saturday afternoon when Barnsley make their first trip to the Reebok Stadium in 12 years.

Chung-Yong added: “We have to try and win the next home game. If we win a lot of games at home, we can go up the league.

“The new manager has told us about the importance of playing together. He wants us to play as a team, pass the ball and play with a smile.”
