Setting The Scene
A little over 13 years after lining up for Wanderers against Bristol City at the Reebok, the last time the two sides met, Jimmy Phillips now assumes the managerial reigns of the club for the first time following Owen Coyle’s departure.
Wanderers were 1-0 winners that day thanks to Eidur Gudjohnsen’s 7th minute goal and a repeat scoreline this weekend would certainly be a positive step in reviving the club’s ambitions of promotion.
Now in his 24th season with the club, 12 each as both a player and a behind-the-scenes staff member, academy manager Phillips was appointed interim boss last Tuesday after it was announced that Coyle was to leave his post.
Duo Sammy Lee and Julian Darby have both also made the transition from academy to first team staff, with the international break providing ample time in which to implement a new and revised training regime.
Bristol City meanwhile sit just above Bolton on goal difference in the league table and are yet to keep a clean sheet this term, with only Burnley and Sheffield Wednesday shipping more than their 19 goals so far.
Stephen McManus has been brought in on a 93-day loan deal in an attempt to sure up a leaky Robins rearguard.
Though up the other end Derek McInnes’ side have decent record in front of goal and the Robins boss believes his side have nothing to fear going into the Reebok clash.
Team News
Wanderers’ only fresh injury concern is that of Andy Lonergan, who will definitely miss the game with a knee problem. Jay Lynch is expected to feature in the matchday squad.
Stuart Holden, David Wheater and Josh Vela (all knee) all continue to be long-term absentees.
Bristol City's Joe Bryan could feature after shrugging off a bout of concussion though Greg Cunningham (ankle), Marvin Elliott (hernia) and Neil Kilkenny (hamstring) will all miss out.
One To Watch – Albert Adomah
After working his way up through the leagues, 24-year-old Albert Adomah has established himself as an integral part of Bristol City’s squad since signing from Barnet in the summer of 2010.
A lively and powerful winger blessed with a real turn of pace, Adomah’s form since arriving at Ashton Gate has seen him earn international recognition from Ghana, the country with which he holds a passport.
An ever-present for McInnes’ side this season, Adomah has weighed in with three league goals and is certainly a man Wanderers should be wary of.

Man In The Middle – Mark Brown
East Yorkshire-based official Mark Brown will take charge of Saturday’s game.
In nine games this season he has so far shown 25 yellow cards and three reds.
