Owen Coyle offers an update on his squad ahead of Saturday's trip to The New Den

Owen Coyle says that he is waiting on the fitness of Martin Petrov, although he potentially could have David Ngog back fit to line up against Millwall on Saturday afternoon.

The Frenchman sat out Tuesday night’s 2-2 draw with Leeds United, as Benik Afobe made his own return from a groin injury to slot straight into the starting line-up having missed the weekend clash against Crystal Palace.

Coyle said: “There are a few bumps and bruises, as always when you come out of back-to-back in the space of a short period.

“We will have a similar squad available, although Martin Petrov locked his back and had a little bit of discomfort yesterday when he came in for training. We will look at that but Saturday might be too soon.

“David Ngog had a tight hamstring but he has trained today and we will look at that. We are hopeful that he will be in Saturday’s squad.

“He has been stop-start with a few injury problems so he didn’t want to aggravate it and make it six-to-eight weeks as it would if his hamstring went completely.

“Marcos Alonso is not quite ready after his knock, but he should be after the international break. The long-term injuries remain with David Wheater, Stuart Holden and Josh Vela.”
