Midfielder speaks to the official club website following Wanderers' victory over Doncaster Rovers
Having secured his second goal in Bolton colours in front of his parents during Wanderers’ 3-0 victory over Doncaster Rovers on Saturday afternoon, Andre Moritz hopes that their presence at Bolton’s upcoming fixtures can prove to be a lucky charm for him and his teammates.
The Brazilian doubled the Whites’ advantage after Joe Mason’s opening goal against the South Yorkshire outfit, with the midfielder revealing his delight at his family being able to witness him enjoy what he described as his best game for the club since his summer move to the Reebok Stadium.
"I did enjoy the game," he said following the final whistle. "It’s been a long time waiting to start games and be more involved.
"My first game that I started against Huddersfield wasn’t the best, but at least it was time on the pitch that led to me playing today.
"It’s not as though you’re going to step into the match in your first game and play your best game, because you need minutes on the pitch and to get confidence.
"I had the confidence today – my parents arrived from Brazil on Friday and them being here was something that gave me the power to play really well today.
"When my family are here watching me, I always score goals and they are here for the next month so I hope the goals keep coming!"
With three points against Paul Dickov’s men lifting Wanderers to 15th position in the league standings, Moritz’s performance was enough to earn him a standing ovation from the Reebok faithful when he was replaced by Rob Hall late on in the clash.
Despite receiving the plaudits on the day however, the 27-year-old explained that his main priority will always remain helping Bolton secure maximum points.
"It’s nice when the fans enjoy what we’re doing and I’m just happy that my performance helped the team to win the game," he said.
"It’s not about scoring and giving assists – of course I want to be on the score sheet, but I want to win games and take as many points as we can so it was a good game.
"It wasn’t an easy game. Doncaster, they came from League One last season but they do have a strong team."
He added: "It’s nice to be involved and to have game time again, to score again and to help my teammates to win games. This is my job, this is what I do and I just try to do my best."
