Goal-scoring striker says side more than merited three derby day points against Burnley
Craig Davies has expressed his delighted at not only scoring his first goal in Wanderers colours, but also playing his part in the Whites’ second-half comeback against Burnley at the Reebok.
The 27-year-old’s 66th-minute header cancelled out David Edgar’s effort ten minutes after the restart. And David Ngog’s late strike ensured that Wanderers came out on top against the Clarets.
Davies now hopes that the win over Sean Dyche’s men will be the catalyst as the Whites aim to hit a winning run as enter the last third of the season.
“It was great to get my first goal but more importantly we got the win,” Davies said speaking after the final whistle. “I’m more pleased about the result than anything.
“I just got the flick on, made the run into the box and Chungy put in a good ball. I just managed to get my body onto it, whether it was my head or my shoulder it doesn’t matter, the important thing is that it went in.
“I think everybody was a little bit disappointed that we didn’t go in winning at half time, but we got the result that we deserved at the end of the day.”
Having started the game on the bench, Davies explained that he is more than willing to bide his time and continue his hard work on the training ground.
“There are some good strikers here,” Davies added. “There’s the skipper, David and Marvin, and they’re all players that have played at a high level. But I’ve just got to keep my head down and worry about myself.
“Everybody tries to impress the manager on a daily basis and I’m no different. I’m just going to keep on working hard and doing my best for the team.
“Hopefully sooner or later I’ll get a chance to start and I can kick on from there.”
