Under-18s: Tottenham 4-8 Wanderers

Baby Whites progress to quarter-finals of FA Youth Cup after smashing Spurs at White Hart Lane

Wanderers’ youngsters progressed to the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup after running riot against Spurs at White Hart Lane.

David Lee and Tony Kelly’s side were ruthless in front of goal, netting an incredible eight times to stun the 2,500 watching spectators.

Tom Walker and Tom Youngs both bagged hat-tricks, whilst Chris Lester and Zach Clough were also on target on an incredible evening in the capital.

Despite falling behind in the early throes, the Baby Whites rallied and were level midway through the opening period when Walker fizzed home a sweet strike from the edge of the area.

And seconds later Youngs rode a number of challenges on his way towards the Spurs goal before coolly slotting beyond the despairing dive of the goalkeeper.

Walker then grabbed his second to make it 3-1, expertly dispatching a loose ball from the edge of the area, though the margin was reduced to a single goal on the stroke of half time.

An avalanche of goals followed after the restart, as Wanderers found the net three times in a devastating 15 minute period.

Lester converted from an acute angle before Youngs saw a deflected effort wrong-foot the goalkeeper to make it 5-2.

On 64 minutes Walker expertly fired home the sixth, completing his hat-trick courtesy of a 20-yard free-kick, before the hosts reduced the arrears with two quick-fire goals.

But any hopes of a fight back for Tottenham were dashed when Youngs sealed his treble with an unstoppable drive after cutting in from the left flank.

Clough capped a remarkable night by tapping home the rebound following a stinging drive from Elliot Newby.
