Baptiste deal confirmed

Defender signs a three-year contract with Bolton

Bolton Wanderers have completed the signing of Alex Baptiste on a three-year contract.

The versatile defender joins Dougie Freedman’s side following the expiration of his previous contract with Blackpool.

Baptiste had spent five years with the Bloomfield Road club, during which time he experienced both a play-off final victory and defeat, Premier League football and the responsibility of captaining the side.

The 27-year-old grew up in Nottingham and progressed through the youth ranks at Mansfield Town. He made his first senior professional appearance as a 17-year-old in 2003 and over an eight-year period with the Stags he would register just shy of 200 outings.

He left Mansfield to join Blackpool in the summer of 2008.

Baptiste is Wanderers’ third confirmed summer signing, following Marc Tierney and Hayden White through the door.
