Tierney can see similarities

Defender Marc Tierney has been impressed with life so far at Wanderers.

The 27-year-old full back, signed earlier this month from Premier League outfit Norwich City, is currently away with his new team mates on an intense pre-season training programme in Spain.

Pleased with the training sessions so far, the former Oldham Athletic man can already see similarities from the Norwich City team he helped win promotion to the top flight in 2011.

“It has been good; we have gradually built into the sessions in Spain,” Tierney explained. “We arrived late on Saturday evening but we have built up to it and had a really good double session today.

“We will have another two good sessions on Thursday and Friday and fly back home on Saturday. It has been a well planned trip, the weather is great and we will look back on this time and be thankful that we did it.

“This stage of the season is imperative; this is where we all get a good fitness base. All the lads came back very fit and from the first day the passing sessions have been very crisp.

“Everybody is bright and lively and the sessions are keeping the lads on their toes. I have been impressed with the tempo, it reminds me of the tempo we had at Norwich the year we won promotion.

“We have had plenty of meals and time together. Everybody is in there together and we pull each other along and that is what creates team spirit. It is not something that you can buy, we will grow together and we will work out together.”
