Goalkeeper in buoyant mood as Wanderers approach a busy Easter period
Having played in goal for the last three games, Andrew Lonergan is keen to keep his run in the side going as Wanderers aim to get back to winning ways at Charlton this weekend.
With Adam Bogdan recently unavailable through injury, the 29-year-old former Leeds and Preston stopper looks forward to the game at The Valley.
“It’ll be a good game. Personally, the international break came at the wrong time for me. I was getting a decent run in the team and hopefully that can continue. First and foremost we want to win and to maintain what was going on before Easter.
“We'll keep on fighting right till the end of the season. We maybe running out of games and we have to win on both Saturday and Tuesday - that’s how it is at this time of the season. It's an exciting time.
“It’s great going out and playing football everyday, but if you haven’t got anything on a Saturday it becomes a bit flat. These last few weeks have given me more of an appetite. I never lost it, but it’s given me more belief.
Having experienced playing at The Valley before with former team Preston North End, Lonergan insist that it is Bolton’s place to go and get three necessary points to mount a play-off push.
He added: “We've got to take the game to Charlton. I remember once when Charlton were fighting the play-offs and Preston were fighting relegation. We got a 2-1 win there a few years ago.
"It’s a lovely stadium. The pitch isn't looking too great at the moment, but you know it'll be interesting afternoon whatever happens."
