Wanderers trio Go Global

Marcos Alonso, Medo Kamara and Marvin Sordell special guests at recent Reebok event

Wanderers trio Marcos Alonso, Medo Kamara and Marvin Sordell were the guests of honour at the Bolton Playing for Success Study@BWFC annual Go Global event at the Reebok Stadium.

Now in its fifth year, Go Global is an annual educational study session with school children from across Bolton, who are given the opportunity to explore the diverse languages and cultures that are shared by the club's international players with the aim of helping to encourage a mutual respect and understanding of our multi-cultural landscape.

The primary and secondary school pupils worked in small groups with each player to find out more about their upbringings and Marcos and Medo both shared the customs and traditions of their home countries.

The school children were then given the opportunity to quiz the Wanderers’ stars on the different languages in the dressing room and also to sample traditional cuisine from some of the home countries of members of the Bolton squad.

It was the second year in successive that Marcos has attended the popular Go Global event and he said: “It was really impressive how much effort these children had put into researching my home country – the questions that they asked me were really detailed and well thought-out.”

“All of these pupils left the stadium today with big smiles on their faces and I’m sure that they enjoyed the visit as much as I did and hopefully they have learnt a lot."
