Talented youngsters from around the world set to participate in annual competition
This coming weekend sees the club’s International Soccer School’s sixth World Grand Skills Final event at the Reebok Stadium.
Boasting 150 participants from countries such as the USA, Australia, Colombia and South Africa, this year also sees players from Aruba making the trip to the North West.
Specifically chosen by the ISS team throughout the year, the talented individuals who have been invited to compete in the tournament will battle it out for a place on the club’s International Football Studies programme.
Starting on Friday 25 October and running for four days, those involved will be tested on their abilities, assessed in games and interviewed by an experienced panel which will include both Sammy Lee and Phil Gartside.
During their stay, the players will be based at the Academy’s Lostock training ground and will have an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of the Reebok Stadium alongside taking their places in the stands for the first team’s clash against Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon.
Offering a different structure to that of previous years, the contestants will be whittled down throughout the duration of the weekend, with the eventual winner being announced on Monday evening.
