Bolton Wanderers midfielder Jay Spearing was pleased with the way the Whites fought for a well-earned point at neighbours Blackpool on Tuesday night.
Dougie Freedman’s men created a number of opportunities to score on the Seaside, with striker Jermaine Beckford coming close on two occasions, one of those opportunities clipping the Blackpool post in the second half.
Spearing, who skippered the Whites at Bloomfield Road, was pleased with the result against a team who have only conceded twice at home so far this season.
“We are happy with the result,” said the former Liverpool man. “We fought together as a unit and we created a lot of opportunities to see the game off but things didn’t fall out our way and we now move on to Saturday.
“We came to Blackpool knowing it would be a tough test but we got our game going and we played some good stuff throughout the game. We put Blackpool under a lot of pressure and that is exactly what we will do on Saturday against Birmingham.
“Jermaine Beckford is getting in the right positions and soon enough one of his chances will go in and I am sure he will kick on from there. Jermaine keeps on working hard and the goals will come.
“We are staying as a unit and we will start pushing up the league.”
