Programme dedicated to FL125

Derby County programme to commemorate 125 years of the Football League.

On 8 September 1888, playing as one of the 12 founding members of the Football League, Bolton faced Derby County at Pikes Lane.

The game kicked off at approximately 3.45pm, with Bolton winger Kenny Davenport netting the first ever Football League goal with the game just two minutes old. Despite taking a three-goal lead that day, Bolton were eventually defeated 6-3. One hundred and twenty five years on and the Whites face the Rams once again on home soil, with Tuesday night’s contest under the Reebok floodlights marking the 117th Football League meeting between Bolton and Derby.

Included in this edition will be exclusive interviews with former Bolton and Derby duo John McGovern and Jeff Chandler, plus we have also spoken to Greek international Stelios Giannakopoulos about his stoppage time winner against the Rams at the Reebok during the 2007/08 season.

Furthermore, we take a look back at the first ever season of the Football League back in 1888 with manager Dougie Freedman and captain Zat Knight also contributing their regular columns.

Priced at just £3, don’t miss out on the 68 page special edition ‘Wanderers’ programme which will be on sale from vendors situated in and around the Reebok Stadium and at Bolton Central in the run up to the 8pm kick-off.
