The manager offers his thoughts following Wanderers' narrow midweek defeat at the hands of Leicester City
Dougie Freedman believes his side were unfortunate to leave Tuesday evening’s clash with Leicester City empty handed.
A game which was settled by Lloyd Dyer’s second half strike, Wanderers were left to rue missed opportunities as the Foxes brought to an end their seven game unbeaten run under the Reebok floodlights.
Speaking following the final whistle, the manager said: “I do feel sorry for the players as they gave everything tonight but just came up short against a very good team in Leicester City.
“We created three or four chances, but they showed why they’re champions with their mentality. They ground it out, got their chance and went and scored a goal.
“That is the most disappointing thing because I believe on another day, we could have won that football match.
“I was very comfortable with how we played during the second half and we were able to bring a couple of youngsters off the bench too.”
He continued: “I thought we looked very exciting on the break, but you’ve got to give them credit as they did have the lion’s share of possession.
“If you don’t take your chances at any level, you’re going to suffer and I felt that is what happened tonight against a very good side.”
