Manager happy with his team's tempo and commitment during 2-2 draw with Forest
Dougie Freedman was pleased to see his side claim a share of the points against Nottingham Forest.
Wanderers twice led through debutant Joe Mason and David Wheater, only to be pegged back by a Britt Assombalonga brace in what was an entertaining game at Macron Stadium.
Freedman praised his entire team’s display against Forest, admitting that on the day the draw was ultimately a fair result.
“I thought it was a fantastic attacking display from both teams and a great advertisement for the Championship,” said Freedman. “Both sides gave it a right good go until the end. I think a draw was a fair result in the end.
“We had our chances, they had their chances, but that’s what you get when you’re playing in the Championship. There’s not a lot in it and that was the case today.
“I do believe Forest are going to be a top side. They’ve worked very well over the summer and we’ve matched them in every way today so I am very pleased with what I have seen.
“I felt that the tempo they played at and the attitude they showed is exactly what I’m looking for from my team.”
The Bolton boss was also pleased with the performances of Craig Davies and Mason in attack, as the pair proved to be a constant thorn in the Forest backline.
Freedman said: “Craig’s worked very hard. I thought he was outstanding today. Him and Joe Mason worked well together. It does come down to fine moments in the Championship no doubt.
“Joe’s a good player. He’s a young player who needs games under his belt. He took his goal well. I was also more than pleased with the contribution from his team-mates behind him.”
