Loan watch: Quartet feature in FA Cup second round

Five of Wanderers’ nine players out on loan feature for respective sides

FA Cup second round weekend saw four Wanderers’ loanees enjoy mixed fortunes in their attempts to secure their passage to round three.

Jermaine Beckford’s Preston North End secured their path to Monday night's third round draw with a 1-0 victory over Shrewsbury Town at Deepdale, while Joe Riley completed the full 90 minutes as Oxford United drew 2-2 at home with Tranmere Rovers, setting up a replay at Prenton Park.

Elsehwhere, Andy Kellett and Paddy Kenny were both knocked out of the competition as Plymouth Argyle and Oldham Athletic suffered defeat to Sheffield United and Doncaster Rovers respectively. Tom Youngs did not feature for Oldham.

Tom Eaves was not involved for Yeovil Town as they drew 1-1 with Accrington Stanley, while Hayden White was also not in action as Bury came from behind to draw 1-1 with Luton Town.

Meanwhile in the Championship, Alex Baptiste was on the scoresheet for Blackburn Rovers as they fell to a last-minute defeat at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

The defender cancelled out Keiran Lee’s early opener in the first half, only to see Claude Dielna curl home the winner in stoppage-time, ending Blackburn’s ten-match unbeaten run in the process.

Elsewhere in the English second tier, Keith Andrews was not involved as Watford beat ten-man Fulham 5-0 at Craven Cottage on Friday night.
