Holden reading the way

American international promotes World Book Day at Queensbridge Primary School

After training on Thursday, Stuart Holden took time out to visit Queensbridge Primary School in Bolton to promote World Book Day.

The returning American international led an assembly in front of 250 pupils aged from four to 11.

Holden talked about his favourite book from his childhood, Roald Dahl’s The Twits, before reading a chapter aloud to the pupils.

“It was really enjoyable,” Holden said after the event. “The kids seemed to really embrace reading and it is important we continue to stress its importance when young people are growing up.

“It’s always nice seeing the hard work that goes on in our local community and the enthusiasm from the kids and staff is a credit to the school.”
